Devastating celebratory headslap kills Cub. That's the headline that would've been fun to see, but the actual one is good too, "Cubs' Lee injured by Guzman's celebratory slap." What was Guzman thinking? Did he secretly want to hurt him? Was he going for blood?
In all honesty, I'm surprised this sort of stuff doesn't happen more- especially in baseball and football. Some of the celebrations are crazy! Of course the Prince's Atom Bomb dong was the best of all time and very safe, but other mosh pits can get a little frightening for the kids.
Totally off-topic- I saw this awesome clip of a soccer game penalty kick. Everyone was waiting and then a hooligan runs on the field with a friend and shoots the ball- AND SCORES!!! What an amazing on-the-field adventure. One of my life goals is to do a run on the field and to run in the sausage race. If anyone can make the run in the sausage race happen- please let me know.

Okay, so it isn't exactly the sausage race, but I'll be down on the field in St. Louis for the second-to-last Brewers game of the season. (I may have mentioned this before, but they have "A Walk in the Park" for kids with Down syndrome and their families, in conjunction with the Pujols Family Foundation.) So this poses a dilemma: I was planning on wearing my Brewers jersey, until someone (my wife) suggested that might be in bad form--disrespecting the organization that invited us in the first place. Any thoughts? It might be a bit embarrassing to meet Pujols while wearing the "enemy's" jersey, but then I thought it might help me score some second-to-last-game free Brewers swag. What do you think?

Actually, I was thinking you should wear a Ryan Braun jersey and really create a ruckus with crazy ol' Albert. Can you tell I'm not a Pujols fan? Gotta give him his props for being a good community guy, though. I don't see any problem with wearing your Brewers jersey - if you are behaving yourself, who cares? Plus, they will win the division - why would they care if you wore the jersey of one of the losing teams? Maybe wear it to the game and take it off before you meet the great Puh? On another note, I spent three years working with Down Syndrome adults - some of the best times of my life :).

Reasonable advice. My only Brewers jersey is #11 Richie Sexson. That's getting more than a bit dated. Maybe I could upgrade to a #52 CC Sabathia or a #2 Bill Hall. =) The clearance rack is my friend.

Maybe pick up a Braun t-shirt.

I have the same friend - an old school ball & glove Turnbow jersey and an old Cirillo jersey from Mr Clearance Rack. I also picked up an old 1982 grey away "Milwaukee" jersey at a sporting goods outlet store for $30 many years ago. No number or name. I was always going to bring it in and get it converted to a Rob Deer jersey, but I never did. One of my all time favorites is my "We're taking this thing National" sweatshirt.

The other option was to split the difference and pick-up a Satchel Paige Browns jersey--as the Browns were originally the Milwaukee Brewers. Of course, that thought process might be a bit much for people to read into at first glance.

Most people would not make the connection - Satchel Paige was AWESOME! I would have loved to see him play. I listened to a whole hour radio program w while back with Bob Costas interviewing one of his old teammates. Was one of my favorite baseball interviews. . .

Buck O'Neil - it was with Buck O'Neil. Could listen to that guy talk about baseball all day. He really loved the game and it showed. Read his book, "I was Right on Time." Also Satchel Paige's book - can't remember the title. Good reading. I have Joe Torre's book, but am having a hard time getting into it. Not a Yankee lover, but like Joe.

Yeah, that would have been nice. I am much more enamored with baseball's history rather than its present. I like that series they have on FSN on "Baseball's Golden Age." I mean, once you get past Alec Baldwin's narration, its okay.
